The Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (RQF) is a nationally recognised occupational qualification for experienced Internal Quality Assurers who are responsible for leading, managing and improving internal quality assurance systems within education, training and workplace assessment environments.
The qualification develops the knowledge and competence required to coordinate quality assurance activities, monitor assessment practice, support assessors, contribute to standardisation, maintain accurate quality assurance records and lead work within an area of responsibility.
It builds on practitioner-level IQA activity by adding leadership responsibilities such as planning work, allocating responsibilities, agreeing objectives, monitoring progress and quality, providing feedback and reviewing work plans.
The qualification is awarded by Focus Awards and sits within the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). Its regulated status can be checked through the Ofqual Register of Regulated Qualifications.
This qualification is intended for experienced assessment and quality assurance practitioners who are ready to take responsibility for leading internal quality assurance activity.

This is an occupational, competence-based qualification. Practical evidence must come from genuine internal quality assurance and leadership activity.
To successfully complete the qualification, you must have access to:
Evidence may include IQA plans, sampling records, standardisation activity, feedback to assessors, quality reports, work plans, allocated responsibilities, agreed SMART objectives, monitoring records and evidence of reviewing or amending work plans.
The qualification is internally assessed through a portfolio of evidence demonstrating achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria across the three mandatory units.
You will complete written assignments and other suitable knowledge evidence covering the principles and practices of internal quality assurance.
You will produce authentic workplace evidence demonstrating your competence in internally assuring assessment and in planning, allocating and monitoring work.
Evidence may include assessor observation, witness testimony, learner products, worksheets, assignments, projects, reports, records of oral or written questioning, professional discussion, IQA documentation and Recognition of Prior Learning where appropriate.
Study flexibly through SJA Global Academia's online learning environment while completing the required practical evidence in your workplace or approved assessment setting.
Online learning supports the knowledge and portfolio process, but it does not replace the authentic workplace evidence required for the competence-based units.
Receive guidance to help you understand all three mandatory units, their learning outcomes and assessment requirements.
Access guidance to help you complete the written assignments for the knowledge-based requirements.
Receive support in planning, managing and leading Internal Quality Assurance activities within a real assessment environment.
Receive guidance on organising and presenting written assignments, workplace evidence and leadership documentation.
Access tutor and assessor support through email and WhatsApp, with one-to-one tutorials available whenever additional guidance is required.
On successful completion of all required units and assessments, and once your assessor has confirmed that you have met the required assessment criteria, your achievement will proceed through the required quality assurance and certification process.
Your assessor's confirmation of completion is followed by Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) and, where applicable, External Quality Assurance (EQA) and awarding organisation approval. If additional evidence, clarification or amendments are requested, you will be required to provide the necessary evidence before certification can be finalised.
The certification process normally takes approximately 3–5 weeks following formal completion and assessor confirmation, subject to successful completion of the required quality assurance and awarding organisation processes. This timeframe is an estimate rather than a guaranteed certification date.
Once certification has been completed, you will receive an electronic certificate (e-certificate) confirming your achievement of the Focus Awards Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (RQF).
A printed certificate can be requested for an additional £7 administration fee, plus the applicable postage or courier cost.
