Optional Group A

Entry Requirements

Be aged 16 or above.
Have access to an appropriate school environment.
Be employed or volunteering in a role that allows practical evidence to be produced.
Have permission to collect suitable workplace evidence.

Meet any safeguarding or background-check requirements set by the school or placement provider.

Online study alone is not sufficient. You must be able to demonstrate practical competence in a real school environment.

Practical / Workplace Requirements

This is an occupational, competence-based qualification and cannot be completed entirely through written assignments.

You must have access to a real school environment where you can demonstrate relevant skills while supporting children or young people. Practical evidence may include:

Certification & Recognition

Following assessor confirmation, your portfolio will undergo Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) and, where applicable, External Quality Assurance (EQA) and awarding organisation approval. If additional evidence or clarification is required during this process, you must provide the requested information before certification can be finalised.

Certification normally takes approximately 3–5 weeks following assessor confirmation, subject to the successful completion of all required quality assurance and awarding organisation processes. This timescale is an estimate and should not be regarded as a guaranteed certificate issue date.

Once certification has been completed, you will receive an electronic certificate (e-certificate) confirming your achievement of the Focus Awards Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (RQF).

A printed certificate can be requested for an additional £7 administration fee, plus the applicable UK or international postage/courier charges, which are payable by the learner.
